Il Jazzit Fest nasce nel 2013 per iniziativa di due piattaforme editoriali, Jazzit e Il Turismo Culturale, con l’ambizione di dimostrare che senza alcun costo per i contribuenti e attraverso una scala di valori etici si possa creare un festival destinato a riconvertire un territorio, nello specifico quello di Terni, da un’industria “pesante” a un’industria “leggera”: quella del sapere, della sostenibilità ambientale, della cultura, del gusto, dell’arte, delle start-up creative, del turismo, del patrimonio delle tradizioni enogastronomiche, del paesaggio, dell’etica e della cittadinanza attiva.

All’interno delle mura del piccolo borgo medievale umbro di Collescipoli (TR), in occasione del Jazzit Fest e grazie alla Pro Loco Collescipoli, si fa ‘inclusione sociale’ attraverso la musica: e gli abitanti accolgono e ospitano nelle loro abitazioni, nelle chiese, nei palazzi storici e nelle piazzette una comunità di musicisti, addetti ai lavori, creativi, intellettuali e volontari.

Il Jazzit Fest nasce come occasione di incontro e confronto tra musicisti jazz, addetti ai lavori, la redazione e i lettori di JAZZIT; è quindi un momento di aggregazione e di ‘io collettivo’ per superare la frammentazione della comunità jazzistica nazionale, che spesso non riesce a comunicare e a fare rete; è inoltre un expo e un meeting pensato per stare assieme, conoscersi, scambiarsi informazioni utili, creare occasioni di tipo commerciale e aggiornarsi sulle nuove forme del music business.
