FESTA DELLA PALOMBELLA – ORVIETO
9 GIUGNO 2019
Segnaliamo inoltre un evento davvero speciale che segna l’inizio del mese di Giugno in Umbria. Questi primi giorni di Giugno costituiscono infatti un momento speciale per visitare Orvieto, dove si svolge la secolare Festa della Palombella, durante la quale si rievoca la discesa dello Spirito Santo con un simbolico volo di una colomba, nella cornice unica della piazza e del sagrato del celebre Duomo. L’evento si accompagna ad una serie di iniziative di rievocazione storica, lo splendido Corteo delle Dame che sfila per le vie del centro cittadino, il Torneo dei Balestrieri con lo spettacolo degli sbandieratori dei quartieri di Orvieto e dei falconieri, il Palio della Palombella conteso dai quattro quartieri orvietani.

These first days of June are a special moment to visit Orvieto: you will find there the ancient Feast of Palombella. During it, you can admire the symbolic flight of a dove, that revokes the Holy Faith, in the unique frame of the square and the parvis of the famous Cathedral. There will be also many historical reenactments, as the wonderful Parade of Ladies along the streets of the city center, the Tourney of Balestrieri with a show of local sbandieratori e falconieri, the Game of Palombella among the four districts of Orvieto. In addiction, there will be also the manifestation “Flowering Orvieto” and the city, its squares, terraces or shops will be full of flowers.

For these edition there will be 4 Umbrian city that are participing in “Good Morning Ceramics”: Deruta, obviously, the undisputed homeland of ceramics, but also Gualdo Tadino, Gubbio and Orvieto. Three days of clay, art and crafts with many events and initiatives to know more about this ancient and fascinating world, with special openings of shops, museums, studios and ateliers. A large community of artists and artisans, a mosaic of shapes and glazes in which you will be personally involved thanks to the planned workshops.

ASSISI FOOD TRUCK FESTIVAL – ASSISI (PG)
FROM 1st TO 4th JUNE
The best of cuisine served on 2, 3 or 4 wheels, with the colorful trucks that come from all over Italy and not only! “Food Trucks” will offer delicious recipes, from the typical regional ones to the real gourmet courses, until international dishes, with many sweet and salt specialities, in addition to “Gluten Free” dishes. All of this, enriched by artistic performances, live music, tasting and events dedicated to children also with a news of this 2017 edition: a special fun area!

SAGRA DELL’ACCIACCATA – FORNOLE (TR)
WAITING FOR OFFICIAL DATES
42° edition of this festival, in the small village of Fornole, close to Amelia. Queen of the event is the “acciaccata”, this focaccia with a dough mixture similar to bread, which is leavend and bake in the oven before being served with local meats and a good glass of wine. Enjoy your meal!
SAGRA DEL PICCIONE IN CARROZZA – S. FORTUNATO DELLA COLLINA (PG)
FROM 2nd TO 11th JUNE
The village of S. Fortunato della Collina will be animate by the events scheduled for this festival, where “pigeons” are the main meal. It includes performances, music, entertainments for young and old, and of course the typical taverns where you can taste the best Umbrian cuisine! Two different menus can be tasted: one exclusively dedicated to the typical Umbrian specialties, and the other one dedicated to grilled meat lovers as chianina meat and sausages.
