LA STORIA DELLA ROCCA DI PASSIGNANO
La Rocca di Passignano fu edificata così come la conosciamo oggi, con il tipico aspetto di castello fortificato, in età medievale. Le origini della Rocca sono comunque molto più antiche e risalgono all’epoca dei Longobardi, che tra il V e il VI secolo lì costruirono la loro fortezza militare.
I Marchesi Toscani che ne furono proprietari fino all’XI secolo provvidero ad innalzare le imponenti mura quadrate, mentre la fortificazione del castello proseguì con i Perugini, successivi proprietari. In seguito, la Rocca passò sotto diverse proprietà con conseguenti modifiche, demolizioni e ricostruzioni. Inoltre durante la Seconda Guerra Mondiale ed i conseguenti bombardamenti che interessarono l’area, la rocca fu purtroppo gravemente danneggiata e si resero necessari importanti lavori di restauro.
La Rocca ha ufficialmente aperto al pubblico nel 2008 ed è oggi una delle attrazioni più belle e suggestive del Lago Trasimeno, oltre che una delle testimonianza storico-artistiche più importanti.
L’abitato di Passignano, ai piedi della Rocca, si sviluppò successivamente, in particolare fra il Cinquecento e il Seicento. In questo periodo videro la luce anche diverse chiese ed edifici storici che caratterizzano il borgo.

COSA VEDERE ALLA ROCCA DI PASSIGNANO
Una visita alla Rocca è prima di tutto un viaggio indietro nel tempo, in quel passato medievale che modellò caratteristici borghi, fortezze e castelli.
Da non perdere la salita alla Torre con il suo spettacolare panorama, mentre all’interno della Rocca troviamo in allestimento permanente il piccolo e particolare Museo delle Barche.
Arrivato in prossimità della Torre della Rocca, sali la scala a chiocciola che si trova al suo interno e giungi al terrazzo posto in cima. La Torre è alta ben 32 metri e domina il paesaggio circostante.
Potrai godere di un panorama mozzafiato sul Lago Trasimeno e le sue isole, sul borgo ed anche sulle stesse colline circostanti poiché la torre offre una vista a 360 gradi. Lo sguardo spazia in ogni direzione fin in lontananza.

Il piccolo Museo delle Barche è una testimonianza forte della realtà del Lago Trasimeno e di tutti quei territori in cui la pesca ha sempre costituito l’attività lavorativa principale.
Il Museo è stato inaugurato nel 2004 ed espone alcune imbarcazioni tradizionali e attrezzature utilizzate per la pesca al Lago Trasimeno, e non solo. Vi troviamo imbarcazioni tipiche del Lago di Piediluco in Valnerina, della Padule di Fuceccio in Toscana, la più estesa palude italiana, e il Fassoi (barca realizzata con piante lacustri) dello Stagno di Cabras in Sardegna.
I reperti esposti sono accompagnati da pannelli tematici che raccontano la storia, l’evoluzione e l’importanza archeologica delle imbarcazioni presenti, inquadrandole nell’ambito della cultura e della civiltà della navigazione nelle acque interne.
Tra le imbarcazioni del Lago Trasimeno, sono esposte: la barca tradizionale, in uso ancora fino alla metà del ‘900; la significativa imbarcazione monossile, vale a dire una barca scavata in un tronco di quercia e ritrovata proprio a Passignano a seguito dei drenaggi delle rive del lago, risalente al 1200.

INFORMAZIONI PRATICHE PER VISITARE LA ROCCA DI PASSIGNANO
La Rocca si raggiunge facilmente con una breve passeggiata, risalendo le vie del borgo di Passignano.
Il biglietto d’ingresso ha un costo di € 2,50. Studenti e over 65 pagano un biglietto ridotto di € 1,50 mentre l’ingresso è gratuito per bambini e ragazzi fino al 14 anni.
La Rocca è aperta dalle ore 10.00 alle ore 12.30 e dalle ore 15.30 alle ore 19.00, si consiglia comunque di controllare gli orari presso l’ufficio del turismo di zona, poiché soprattutto nella stagione invernale gli orari potrebbero subire variazioni.

The complex resisted, even if not in toto, to the World War, maintaining or regaining despite the course of events an important position for the town of Passignano which today makes it reason to boast in terms of artistic and historical heritage Cultural available.
